How Long Does It Take to Form an LLC in Georgia?

Georgia LLC formation takes 7–15 business days under standard processing. Online filings are processed in approximately 7 business days, while mailed paper filings take about 15 business days from receipt. Expedited options range from 2 business days ($120) to same-business-day processing ($275) to 1-hour processing ($1,200). File Articles of Organization with the Georgia Secretary of State, Corporations Division under O.C.G.A. §§ 14-11-204 to 14-11-206.

The Georgia Secretary of State processes LLC Articles of Organization at different speeds based on filing method:

  • Online filing: ~7 business days (fastest standard option)
  • Paper-online filing: 10–14 business days
  • Mailed paper filing: ~15 business days from receipt

File online at https://ecorp.sos.ga.gov/Account for the quickest standard processing. The filing fee is $110.

Expedited Processing Options

Georgia offers three expedited tiers if you need faster approval:

What to File

Submit Articles of Organization including:

  • LLC name with required designator ("Limited Liability Company," "LLC," or "L.L.C.")
  • Filing person's name and address
  • Valid email address
  • Principal office mailing address
  • Registered agent name and Georgia address
  • Organizer name and address
  • Any optional provisions

One or more organizers may form the LLC. Foreign owners are permitted.

Before Filing

Verify your desired name is available at https://ecorp.sos.ga.gov/BusinessSearch. You can reserve a name for 30 days for $35 if needed.

After Formation

Your LLC becomes effective on the date specified in your Articles or the filing date if no date is chosen. If you operate under a name different from your LLC name, file a DBA with the clerk of superior court in your business location county.
